Astrid Hoefler is a PhD candidate in Environmental Studies at UC Santa Cruz. She is interested in disaster risk, vulnerability, and frameworks that build resilient, sustainable communities in the context of wildfires. Her dissertation work aims to understand the impact of wildfires on California’s agricultural sector, with an emphasis on crop productivity. As a CCCR Fellow, her project aims to quantify climate change driven wildfire risks to agriculture in California’s north coast, projecting how future wildfires will affect regional crops under changing climate scenarios.
