Focus Areas
Climate change is here. It is impacting people and nature every day. Climate change is no longer a future problem. The Center focuses on Climate Adaptation to reduce these risks now while also working to reduce them in the future.
In the Center, we build on UCSC’s deep expertise in research, policy and practice to help communities and leaders adapt to climate change. We focus on solutions that benefit people and nature. We seek solutions and build resilience that is just and equitable.

Nature-Based Solutions
Coastal risks are growing rapidly from climate change and development. Nature-based Solutions (NBS) plays a critical role in reducing the economic and environmental impacts of climate change.

Communications
Communication is key to helping the community, stakeholders and decision-makers understand the growing scope of climate risks and, more importantly, the solutions that can help address them.

Climate Justice
The communities that have contributed the least to climate change are often impacted the most but may have limited access to resources. Through community engagement we are working to help solve these challenges.

Projects
The Center supports projects that bring together researchers and practitioners to build innovative climate solutions.
